The Chicago Steel netted 4 goals in the middle frame to help spoil Omaha's season opener by the score of 6-3 in the 2026 Fall Classic Saturday night.

Yegor Kim scored the first Lancers' goal of the 2026-27 season just over three minutes into the opening frame to knot the game up at one goal apiece. Kim received a backhand feed from Artem Prima in the neutral zone before using his deceptive speed to go on a breakaway and beat Chicago netminder Stepan Houdek blocker-side.


Omaha (0-1-0-0) resumed their scoring in the third period off the sticks of rookie skater Edgar Viskantas and once more from Yegor Kim on a power-play. Viskantas cashed in on a backhand one-timer from a Tommy Spencer feed at the 6:46 mark. Kim's power-play goal came just over a minute later to conclude the Lancers' night in the scoring department.
 
Chicago (2-0-0-0) had two multi-goal scorers in Saturday night's contest, with Cole Bumgarner and Easton Pace each scoring a pair of tallies.
 
However, Stepan Houdek of Chicago was the story. The 6'3 Praha, Czechia native backstopped 33 of 36 Lancer shots. Houdek was at his busiest in the third period with the Lancers tilting the ice, outshooting Chicago 16-3 in the final frame.

The Lancers are back in action tomorrow afternoon when they take on the Madison Capitols at 3:30 p.m. to close out the 2026 Fall Classic.
