KIM'S BIG NIGHT EXTENDS LANCERS' WIN STREAK

RECORDS FIVE POINTS IN OMAHA'S WIN AT TRI-CITY

The Omaha Lancers earned their third straight win by defeating the Tri-City Storm, 8-5, on Friday night at Vee Arena.

Omaha (6-6-1-0) exploded in the second period, scoring four times to record its third period with three or more goals in the last three games. Yegor Kim led all Lancers with five points on a goal and four assists. He was one of six Lancers to record multiple points.

Tri-City (10-4-0-0) opened the game with the first two goals but, for the second time in its last three games, saw a multigoal lead erased in the same period. After scoring the first two goals and then allowing two unanswered goals in the opening period against Chicago last Friday, it happened again against Omaha. The collapse led to the Storm's first loss since Oct. 10.

Dylan Krayer and Aleksander Sokolov helped establish the lead at the 4:33 and 8:56 marks, respectively. Krayer cashed in from the high slot to extend his goal-scoring streak to three games. Sokolov scored a power-play goal at the 8:56 mark by knocking a rebound into the air and batting it home with an impressive display of hand-eye coordination.

Zach Spagnuolo scored his first goal as a Lancer at the 17:40 mark of the first period, just under two minutes after Omaha had a goal disallowed. Thaddeus McMahon appeared to score at the 15:52 mark, but the net was ruled to be off its moorings and the goal was waved off. Spagnuolo took matters into his own hands shortly thereafter, leading the rush and scoring from the left circle for his third goal of the season.

Charlie Vig tied the game just 16 seconds later with his first goal of the season. He passed the puck to Rylan Bydal along the right wing from center ice and then hustled ahead to redirect Bydal's return pass past goaltender Quin Beumer at the 18:00 mark.

Ryder Reynolds scored the Lancers' second goal of the night by a defenseman to put Omaha ahead for the first time at the 4:29 mark of the second period. Kim won the faceoff in the near circle, Artem Prima wrapped the puck around the back of the net and fed Reynolds at the top of the far circle, where he blasted a one-timer home for his second goal of the season.

Just 56 seconds later, the Lancers drew a penalty, and 25 seconds after that struck again. Jack Stanius hammered home a one-timer from the top of the left circle off a cross-ice pass from Tanner Morgan. Stanius scored his fourth goal of the season and matched his total from last season with his second power-play goal at the 5:50 mark of the second period. The goal chased Beumer from the game after he surrendered four goals on 13 shots.

The Lancers went on the power play again just 18 seconds after the Stanius goal and once again made the Storm pay. After passing the puck to Artem Prima at the far point, Adam Israilov got it back at the far circle, skated to the dot and ripped a wrist shot past new goaltender Ryan Denes.

Israilov teamed up with Kim for another Lancers goal in the second period. Israilov intercepted a pass between Storm defensemen behind the goal line and fed Kim alone in front of the net for his team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Tri-City snapped Omaha's run of six consecutive goals when Matthew Krayer scored at the 16:33 mark of the second period. Dain Gordon added a short-handed goal at the 10:13 mark of the third period to draw the Storm within two goals.

The Lancers didn't wait long to respond after allowing their second short-handed goal of the season. Bydal restored the three-goal lead just 50 seconds after Gordon's tally on the same power play. His fourth goal on the man advantage not only leads the Lancers but is tied for the USHL lead.

Matthew Krayer again cut the Lancers' lead to two goals at the 17:52 mark, but Artem Prima responded with an empty-net goal at the 18:16 mark. Prima, Israilov and Kim combined for three goals and eight assists.

Omaha's eight goals are a season high through 13 games and mark the third time in the last five games that the club has scored six or more goals. The Lancers have scored 23 goals over their last five games after scoring 19 in their first eight contests.

Omaha also scored a season-high three power-play goals while scoring on the man advantage for a third straight game, another season-high streak.

The Lancers continue their weekend road swing in Sioux City on Saturday. The puck drops at 6:05 p.m., and fans can tune in on the Omaha Lancers Hockey Network via Mixlr or FloHockey.
