OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are proud to announce that Forward, Christian Kocsis has selected Mercyhurst University to pursue his division one college hockey career.
Kocsis, 19, of Middletown, New Jersey is currently in his third full-time season in the USHL, playing in 156 total games since the 2020-21 season where he played only six games with the Lincoln Stars. In total, Kocsis played just 45 games with the Stars over the course of two seasons, before being traded to the Des Moines Buccaneers at the deadline in 2022. Heading to the Bucs with eight career points (5G-3A-8P).
The forward really got settled in during his time in Des Moines, tallying 29 points (11G-18A-29P) over the course of 75 games. And following the first four games of the current season, Kocsis was acquired by the Lancers on October 12th, 2023.
Since coming to Omaha, the 5-foot-10, 171 pound skater has improved his points-per-game to nearly 0.5 with eight goals and eight assists through 36 games played. As well as having the third-best shooting percentage on the Lancers' roster at 16.7%. Only trailing David Deputy (17.3%) and leader, Nick Pierre (18.2%).
Prior to his junior hockey years, the New Jersey Native rounded up an impressive 117 points (56G-61A-117P) through 70 games played within the Honeybaked 15U & 16U teams in the 2019-2020 season. Then played for the New Jersey Avalanche 16U AAA squad in the 2020-21 season where he notched 16 points (11G-5A-16P) in just six games played before being pulled in by the Lincoln Stars for the remainder of the year.
