OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) announce that Forward, Reese Laubach has switched his college commitment from Minnesota State University to Penn State University ahead of the 2023-24 college hockey season.
Laubach, 19, of San Jose, California made his USHL debut with the Youngstown Phantoms on December 30th 2021, but just completed his first full-time season in 2022-23. Playing 17 games with the Youngstown Phantoms and 33 games with the Omaha Lancers after being acquired in a transaction back on December 6th, 2022. Throughout that season, Laubach notched 24 points (11G-13A-24P) in 50 games played, with 20 of those points coming in a Lancers' uniform.
Prior to his USHL experience, the 6-foot, 165 pound forward played two seasons of 18U Prep-School Hockey at Northstar Christian Academy in Alexandria, Minnesota. In his first season (2020-21) Laubach picked up an average of 1.54 points per-game through 56 games played. Followed by an incredible 2021-22 season, tallying 147 points (70G-77A-147P) in 83 games played. Nearly doubling his total from the season prior.
With those two impressive years at Northstar Christian Academy, the California Native was selected 217th overall, in the 7th round of the 2022 NHL Draft by his hometown team, the San Jose Sharks.
