OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers have announced the acquisition of Forward, Libor Nemec from the Lukko U20 team out of the SM-Sarja league in Finland.
Nemec, 19, of Bardejov, Slovakia most recently lead Team Slovakia in the 2023 World Juniors Tournament in points, tied with teammates Filip Mesar and Peter Repcik with six (3G-3A-6P). Aiding his team in their journey to the quarterfinals, resulting in a 4-3 overtime loss to gold medal winning Team Canada back on January 2nd. His scoring ability also led Team Slovakia to the #2 power-play at 45.5%, and #4 in scoring efficiency at 12.6% out of all ten teams in the tournament.
The Slovakian native also played for his World Junior Team in the 2022 tournament where he still averaged a point per game, netting a goal and picked up three assists through four games played.
Throughout his time with the Lukko U20 team, Nemec has gathered 27 points through 71 games played (12G-15A-27P).
Prior to his time with the U20 team, Nemec played half a season with the Lukko U18 team where he notched 24 points in 22 games in the form of 10 goals and 14 assists. Moving back even further, Nemec played on the J18 & J20 teams for Tingsryds AIF out of Sweden where he racked up an impressive 55 points (31G-24A-55P) in 68 games played before taking off for Finland to play for his current organization.
The 6-foot-3, 187 pound forward is currently committed to play division one college hockey at Lake Superior State University.
