The Omaha Lancers fell to the Des Moines Buccaneers once again Saturday night, by the score of 3-2 after a mad comeback from the Bucs in the third period of play.
Omaha (1-3-0-0) broke the ice at 14:20 into the first period with forward
Tommy Spencer cashing in on a sprawling Kimi Saffran to make it 1-0 Lancers.
Â
The Lancers picked back up the scoring 17 seconds into the second period when defenseman
Thaddeus McMahon snapped one in the back of the cage after jumping into the rush with
Yegor Kim and
Artem Prima to make it 2-1 Lancers.
Â
However, Des Moines (4-0-0-0) rallied in the third and spoiled what could have been a Lancers' victory. Late in the third, the Buccaneers ramped up their forecheck and outshot Omaha 19-2 in the third period. Riley Zupfer nabbed the game-tying goal, followed by a Becker Wenkus game-winning goal.
The Lancers are back in action next Friday night, when they will take on the very same Des Moines Buccaneers club out in the Iowa state capital. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. You can catch the game on Flo Hockey. Single-game tickets for home games, as well as ticket packages, are available for purchase now.
