LANCERS COMPLETE TWO TRADES MONDAY

General manager Marc Fritsche announced on Monday a pair of trades executed by the Omaha Lancers. Omaha acquired forward Jakeb Lynch from the Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League in exchange for future considerations. The Lancers have also received three future draft picks from the Chicago Steel in exchange for forward Cam Caron.

Lynch, 19, comes to the Lancers after recording 28 points (9+19) in 16 games for the Wilderness. The Papillion native leads the NAHL in points and is second in assists. Lynch has 95 points (32+63) in 80 career games across the last three seasons for Minnesota.

This will be Lynch's fourth season playing in the USHL. He appeared in eight games across parts of three seasons for the Des Moines Buccaneers before being dealt to the Waterloo Black Hawks last season. Lynch recorded 9 points (2+7) in 33 games after being acquired by Waterloo on Nov. 4 last year.

Before his junior-hockey career, Lynch played for the Omaha Jr. Mavericks and Omaha Mastery AAA programs. In 2022-23, he recorded 121 points (63+58) in 71 games at the 15U AAA level for Omaha Mastery.

"Jakeb is an experienced USHL player who brings a wealth of experience at the junior hockey level to us," head coach Ron Fogarty said. "That type of grit will go a long way to helping us. He's a skilled player and he wants to be in Omaha. Coach (Christian) Graham coached Jakeb during his youth hockey career and guys like Reese Lantz, Mason Noble and Ryder Reynolds have all played with him before and look forward to doing so again."

The three draft picks received from the Steel will all take place in the 2027 USHL Draft. Omaha picked up a Phase I Third Round selection, a Phase I Fourth Round selection and a Phase II First Round selection.

Caron, 20, appeared in 61 games last season and produced 21 points (10+11). He recorded two assists in 10 games with Omaha this season.

The Lancers play a pair of road games this coming weekend, first traveling to Tri-City on Friday before heading to Sioux City the next day. Omaha's next home game is Nov. 13 for Military Appreciation Night. Tickets can be purchased at lancers.com. All Lancers games, home and away, can be watched live with an active FloHockey subscription or heard for free on Mixlr.
