WEEKEND PREVIEW: OCT. 10

OMAHA (1-4-0-0) @ CEDAR RAPIDS (7-0-0-0)  Saturday, Oct. 10 7:05 p.m. CDT  ImOn Ice Arena

The Lancers: Have lost their last three games, all to the Des Moines Buccaneers… Are 47-24-1-7 all-time against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in regular-season play… Have just two first-period goals so far this season, tied for the second-fewest in the league… Are 4-6-0-0 all-time in October when facing the RoughRiders… Are 44-3-2-2 all-time against Cedar Rapids when scoring three goals or more…

The RoughRiders: Are off to the best start in franchise history, surpassing their 4-0-0-0 start back in 2010-11 when they went on to win the Anderson Cup… Defeated Green Bay, 4-1, on the road Tuesday night... Host Madison Friday night... Have scored 13 third-period goals, the most in the USHL… Have 4 goals from their defensemen so far this season, which is tied with Fargo for the most in the league… Are the only team in the league thus far to be called for a charging infraction…

Shorthanded Goals Galore: The Lancers have already scored two shorthanded goals this season, with Ryan Aaronson netting both of them over the last three games... This comes after Omaha scored three shorthanded goals over 62 games last season… Aaronson is the first Lancer to register multiple short-handed goals in a season since Griffin Jurecki back in the 2022-23 campaign… He trails only Joey Argentina of Des Moines (3) for the USHL lead... The Harvard commit is well on track to becoming the first Lancer since Filip Suchy (2017-18) to score at least three shorthanded goals in a season…

Cross-Conference Clashes: The Lancers are playing their first game against an Eastern Conference opponent this weekend for the first time since taking on the Chicago Steel and the Madison Capitols at the USHL Fall Classic to open the season Sep. 19-20... Omaha will play 20 consecutive games against Western Conference opponents before facing the Capitols Dec. 18-19 at Liberty First Credit Union Arena... The Lancers went 5-15 against Eastern Conference teams last season...

Lancers To Watch: Forward Cam Caron racked up a goal and 2 assists in 4 games against the RoughRiders last season… His lone point this season is an assist in the Lancers' 5-3 win vs. Madison Sept. 20 … Forward Tommy Spencer scored and added an assist in four games against the RoughRiders last season… The second-year veteran opened this season with two goals over the first four games…

RoughRiders To Watch: Bennington native Caden Ingalls takes on his hometown team for the first time in his career… The 17-year-old defenseman scored his first USHL goal last Saturday at Dubuque… Forward Henry Lechner is the leading scorer in the USHL, amassing 12 points (6+6) through 7 games… Lechner was held off the scorers' sheet for the first time this season in their win over Green Bay on Tuesday night…

This Date In Lancers History: On Oct. 10, 2008, the Lancers grabbed their first win of the 2008-09 season with an 8-5 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs... Des Moines opened up the game with three straight goals to jump out to a strong start just 8:23 into the first period... The first two Buccaneer tallies came from Omaha native and former Lancer Brett Bruneteau... However, the Lancers took control from that point on, scoring the next eight goals... "They took advantage of three mistakes," Lancers coach Bliss Littler told the Daily Nonpareil. "That's going to happen with young and inexperienced players, but they kept working." Jake Hauswirth led the way for Omaha, netting a hat trick... Tye Lewis also had a three-point performance, netting a goal and two helpers... The Lancers surrendered two late goals in the third but held on for an 8-5 victory...
