LANCERS BREAK THROUGH IN THIRD, BEAT ROUGHRIDERS

The Omaha Lancers scored both of their goals in the third period and defeated the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, 2-1, on Saturday night at ImOn Ice Arena.

Omaha (2-4-0-0) entered the third period trailing by a goal, but Cedar Rapids (7-2-0-0) suffered its first loss in seven games it led after two periods. Jack Stanius scored the game-tying goal 5:23 into the final frame and then Adam Israilov scored the game-winner at the 13:49 mark.

Anthony Sciere earned the win between the pipes by stopping 20-of-21 shots. Nils Maurins started but left due to injury 12:35 into the game. Sciere stopped all eight shots that he faced in the third period, including a couple in the final minute of the game with the Cedar Rapids' net empty.

The RoughRiders broke through with the game's first goal on the power play at the 12:03 mark of the second. Matas Janulis's shot from the point changed direction after ricocheting off a Lancers defender and past Sciere.

Stanius evened things up on a one-timer from the edge of the right circle. Cam Caron set him up with a pass from beneath the goal line after a successful forechecking effort from Tanner Morgan in the near corner. Stanius cashed in on the far-post side just over the right pad of goaltender Ethan Phillips with his second goal of the season.

Israilov shined all night in his first game of the season. He reclaimed his familiar spot on the right wing with Yegor Kim centering him and left winger Artem Prima. Israilov finished the 2025-26 season by recording 14 points over the final 16 games while skating with Kim and Prima the whole time. He picked up right where he left off in his first game of 2026-27, scoring in his first game of the season for the second straight campaign. Israilov's game-winning goal came after a Cedar Rapids' clearing attempt hit a RoughRider skate and bounced perfectly to Prima atop the right circle. He found Israilov at the edge of the far circle and Israilov scored far side.

The Lancers take on the Tri-City Storm next weekend in a home-and-home set. Friday's game at the Viaero Center in Kearney begins at 7:05 p.m. and the puck drops at 6:05 the next night at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. Saturday, Oct. 17 is First Responders Night and all first responders can show their ID at the box office to receive up to four free tickets to the game. Tickets for all Lancers home games can be purchased at lancers.com
