BUMP SCORES IN FIRST NHL GAME

Former Omaha Lancer Alex Bump opened up his NHL career with a bang by scoring in his first game Saturday night with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Bump netted a game-tying goal at the 4:46 mark of the second period en route to earning the game's first star in Philadelphia's 4-3 shootout win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. He became the 47th former Lancer to appear in an NHL game.

The Prior Lake, Minn. native played in 59 games for the Lancers from 2021-23, totaling 43 points (20+23) in 59 games. Bump scored in his first USHL game Sep. 23, 2021 vs. Cedar Rapids at the USHL Fall Classic and later scored in four consecutive games in November. Despite being traded to Tri-City in February of the 2022-23 season, Bump still led all Lancers with 26 points and 17 assists.

Bump enrolled at Western Michigan in the fall of 2023 and helped the Broncos win the 2025 NCAA National Championship. After being named a finalist for the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Rookie of the Year he went on to win the league's Forward of the Year in 2024-25. Bump finished his collegiate career with 83 points (37+46) in 80 games.

The Flyers drafted Bump in the sixth round of the 2022 NHL Draft between his two Lancers' seasons. He joined the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL for a pair of games last season before recording 26 points (11+15) in 36 games this season.

Bump is the third former Lancer to make his NHL debut this season, joining Travis Mitchell (New York Islanders) and Jared Wright (Los Angeles Kings). To view the full list of Lancers to appear in the NHL, please visit lancers.com/sports/2022/8/19/nhl-alumni.aspx
