LANCERS ACQUIRE SPAGNUOLO FROM SIOUX CITY

Omaha Lancers general manager Marc Fritsche announced Thursday the acquisition of defenseman Zach Spagnuolo from the Sioux City Musketeers in exchange for forward Peter Murray.

Spagnuolo, 19, is in his third USHL season. He skated in six games with Sioux City and scored two goals, with both coming in back-to-back games Oct. 9-10 vs. Green Bay. Spagnuolo previously played in 33 games for the Chicago Steel, recording 4 points (1+3) in that span. He is committed to play Division-I hockey at the Air Force Academy.

"Zach brings a level of experience and leadership quality to add to the good culture that we've built in Omaha," Fritsche said. "he's got a strong stick. Very versatile with strong defensive abilities and the ability to be a playmaker on the offensive side."

The Allen, Texas, native's junior-hockey experience includes playing for the Philadelphia Rebels in the North American Hockey League in 2024-25. Spagnuolo scored 1 goal and added 6 assists in 44 games while recording a plus-11. He also spent four seasons in the Dallas Stars Elite AAA program. That tenure concluded with accumulating 32 points (11+21) in 49 games with 16U team in 2023-24.

"We're getting a good left-handed shot defenseman with experience in this league," Lancers head coach Ron Fogarty said. "He's a transporting defenseman who has a high hockey IQ, makes a good first pass and plays a hard and heavy game."

Murray, 18, appeared in four games with the Lancers this season. He was selected by Omaha in the third round of the 2026 USHL Phase II Draft.

Spagnuolo and the Lancers open up the weekend Friday night against the Sioux Falls Stampede on the road at 7:05 p.m. Omaha is back home Saturday night to take on the Tri-City Storm for Down Syndrome Awareness Night.
