STASTNY NAMED TO OMAHA HOCKEY HALL OF FAME

Former Lancer Paul Stastny is one of two inductees into the 2026 Class of the Omaha Hockey Hall of Fame. He will join former University of Nebraska Omaha hockey forward Josh Archibald in the newest class later next month.  

Stastny played for the River City Lancers from 2002-04, recording 107 points (40+67) in 113 games while the team played its home games at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs. His 2003-04 season left a mark on Lancers single-season history as he remains 10 in points (77), tied for sixth in assists (47), tied for 10th in plus-minus (+26) and 10th in shots (196). 

Following his tenure with the Lancers, Stastny played two seasons at the University of Denver. He helped the Pioneers win the 2005 National Championship while also winning Western Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Year and a spot on the WCHA All-Rookie Team. The following season Stastny made the WCHA First All-Star Team while leading the conference with 44 points in conference play and earning NCAA West Second All-American Team honors. He totaled 98 points (36+62) over 81 college games. 


Stastny recorded 822 points (293+529) over 1,145 NHL games in 17 seasons from 2006-23. He scored 20-or-more goals in seven different seasons and played for five different teams. Stastny was named a NHL All-Star two times and appeared on the 2007 All-Rookie Team. He finished second in voting for the 2006-07 Calder Memorial Trophy. 

Born in Quebec but primarily residing in the United States, he competed for the red, white and blue twice at the Olympics and three times at the IIHF World Championship. Stastny won silver and bronze medals at the Olympic stage but his best work at the international level came at the 2013 World Championship, when he recorded 15 points (7+8) in 10 games to earn a spot as one-of-six players on the World Championship All-Star Team. He finished his international career with 37 points (17+20) in 37 games.

Archibald recorded over three seasons at UNO, scoring 58 goals, He led all of college hockey with 29 goals in 2013-14 before playing parts of nine seasons in the NHL. 

Stastny and Archibald will be inducted into the Omaha Hockey Hall of Fame Friday, Feb. 27 at a luncheon at Liberty First Credit Union Arena at 11:30 a.m. Tickets can be reserved by calling 402-934-6291 Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
