LINCOLN EDGES OUT OMAHA

OMAHA, NE- The Omaha Lancers concluded their season series with the Lincoln Stars Friday Night at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. The Lancers would look to avoid a season sweep from the Stars.

In the first period the Stars would jump out on Omaha early with forward Lefty Markonidis sending a wrist shot from above the face-off circle to give the Stars a 1-0 lead. The Lancers would respond late in the first with forward Caden Lee finding the back of the cage to knot it up at one goal apiece going into the middle frame.

In the second period, the Lancers and Stars would trade scoring chances with the Lincoln Stars finding one of their chances materialize into a goal thanks to forward Dashel Oliver to help give Lincoln the 2-1 lead going into the third period of play.

In the third period, the Lancers did not go away without a fight as forward Charlie Vig would cash in on a rebound to knot the game back up at two goals apiece. However, minutes later Lincoln forward Alex Pelletier would roof one on a backhander to give Lincoln the 3-2 lead and the eventual 3-2 victory for the Stars.

The Lancers are back in action tomorrow night in Sioux City to take on the Musketeers. Puck drop is at 6:05 PM CST. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports with the voice of your Omaha Lancers Frank Zawrazky.
