OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers concluded its weekend and season series with the Green Bay Gamblers Saturday night (3/9) at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. The Lancers would look to bounce back from a disappointing Friday night (3/8) against the very same Gamblers club.
The first period would commence with a flurry of scoring chances coming from both sides.
Eventually, the Lancers would draw first blood with a feed from forward Sam Scheetz as fellow line-mate Will Elger would receive that Scheetz pass before Elger would bury it; propelling Omaha to 1-0 advantage heading to the locker-room.
The second period would have the Lancers continue to control the game.
However, Green Bay would get in front of a plethora of Lancer shot attempts.
Eventually, Green Bay would respond late in the second as defenseman Josh Player would cash in on a rebound after an ensuing Green Bay break off a blocked Charlie Lieberman shot that would help tie the game at one going into the third period.
The third period would have Omaha continue to control play throughout.
The Lancers would eventually cash in on another from the Scheetz-Elger duo, as Elger this time would give the puck off to Scheetz before Sam would bury it past net-minder Adam Gajan to give Omaha the 2-1 lead with just over 6 minutes to go.
Minutes later, Green Bay would pull their goalie before Lancer forward Nick Pierre would slap home the empty netter to help solidify a 3-1 Lancer victory!
The Lancers are right back here at Liberty First Union Arena Thursday night (3/14) against their arch-rival Lincoln Stars. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM CST. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports.
