OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers hosted the Green Bay Gamblers Friday night (3/8) at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. The Gamblers had come off an ugly 10-3 drubbing to the Madison Capitols Wednesday Night (3/6), while the Lancers had come off a weekend split to the surging Chicago Steel.
The first period would have Green Bay firing early, as defenseman Luke Baker would cash in first for the Gamblers to make it 1-0.
Eventually, Green Bay would get on the board once more in the opening frame with forward Lev Katzin cashing in short-side on the power-play to stretch Green Bay's lead to 2-0 going into the second period of play.
The second period would have much of the same as the first.
The scoring would start with forward Charlie Russell; helping extend Green Bay's lead.
Shortly thereafter, forward Ryan Humphrey cashes in to make it 4-0 Green Bay.
The Lancers would not be totally empty-handed as forward Ryan Kusler finds the back of the net off the face-off to cut the deficit at 4-1.
However, Charlie Russell and the Gamblers would come right back with another tally to give Green Bay a 4-goal lead.
Green Bay would receive two more tallies to end the second-both coming from forward Ben Poitras.
The third period would have the Lancers score once more with Aleksi Kivioja cashing in.
However, the Gamblers would come right back with a goal of their own to conclude tonight's matchup with an 8-2 loss.
The Lancers are back in action tomorrow night (3/9) against the very same Green Bay club. Puck drop is at 6:05 PM CST. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports.
