OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers played host to the Tri-City Storm Friday Night (3/29) at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. The Lancers had come off a 2-0 shutout win over the Lincoln Stars Wednesday (3/27) at the Ice Box in Lincoln, Nebraska. Meanwhile the Tri-City Storm had lost its last three games-including its most recent game Sunday (3/24) against the Waterloo Black Hawks where the Storm suffered a 7-1 drubbing.

The first period would have the Lancers play a physical brand of hockey throughout.

However, Aleksi Kivioja would get assessed a spearing major penalty in the early going after whacking Tri-City goalie Cameron Korpi below the belt.

On that ensuing spearing major, the Storm would eventually score with forward Owen Beckner cashing in top-shelf to give Tri-City the 1-0 advantage going into the second period of play.

The second period would have Tri-City break-out offensively from start to finish.

The scoring would start with forward Trevor Connelly who would cash-in on a breakaway to give the Storm a 2-0 lead.

Shortly thereafter, Jake Rozzi would get in on the action to extend Tri-City's lead to 3-0.

The Lancers looked like they had cashed in on a Sluys tally however, the net would be knocked off its pegs therefore the goal would not count.

The Lancers would not go totally empty handed in the middle frame, as on the power-play forward Nick Pierre would bury a one-timer to put Omaha within two at 3-1.

However, Cooper Simpson would put Tri-City right back in front by three to make it 4-1.

Jake Rozzi would also tack on another, making it 5-1.

Finally, Ryan Smith would top off the middle frame with yet another marker to make it 6-1 going into the third period of play.

The third period would have the Lancers control most of the period as Omaha would actually be evenly matched with Tri-City statistically throughout tonight's contest.

The Lancers would manage to get one more goal before the final horn, as forward Sam Scheetz would bury one top shelf past Korpi.

The Storm eventually wins it 6-2 despite the Lancers and Tri-City finishing dead-even in shot attempts and scoring chances.

The Lancers are back in action tomorrow night in Urbandale, Iowa to take on the Des Moines Buccaneers. Puck drop is at 6:00 PM CST. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports.
