OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) have announced that Goaltender, Mikhail Yegorov has selected Boston University to pursue his division one college hockey career.
Yegorov, 17, of Moscow, Russia was drafted by the Omaha Lancers 88th overall in the 6th round of the 2023 Phase II USHL Draft. Playing in his first season in the United States, Yegorov has been busy. Appearing 26 times through 41 total regular season games, seeing the 5th most amount of shots faced with 767, only trailing four goalies who all have at least 100 more total minutes of play.
The Russian Netminder sits at a 0.892 save percentage, good for seventh best in the western conference, and leads the entire USHL in shootout save percentage at a perfect 1.000. On top of that, he is one of ten goalies to record a shutout during the current 2023-24 season.
Heading into this season, the 6-foot-5, 179 pound goaltender was on NHL Central Scouting's "Players To Watch List." Following a solid first half of the season, he was ranked the fourth best North American Goaltender in the same list. Only trailing Ryerson Leenders (Mississauga, OHL), Nicholas Kempf (USA U18s, NTDP) and Carter George (Owen Sound, OHL). Competing with the mid-season rank of former Lancers' Goalie, Michael Hrabal who was ranked in the #2 spot. Then went on the be drafted 38th overall in the second round of the 2023 NHL Draft by the Arizona Coyotes.
Yegorov will be looking to climb the Central Scouting ranks again this April when the final 2023-24 rankings release.
