LANCERS COME UP SHORT IN SIOUX FALLS

SIOUX FALLS, SD- The Omaha Lancers concluded Thanksgiving weekend in Sioux Falls, South Dakota against the Sioux Falls Stampede. The Lancers had come off a hard fought game the previous night on the road with the Fargo Force while the Sioux Falls Stampede also had come off a hard fought game themselves against their arch rival Sioux City Musketeers.

The Lancers started strong in the early going however, they would be unable to find the back of the net in the early going despite Omaha's decisive control in the first 10 minutes of the hockey game. Sioux Falls would eventually find the back of the net with forward Jake Merens wrapping the puck around from below the goal line to put the Stampede up 1-0 going into the middle frame.

The second period would go back and forth between the two clubs however, the scoring in the middle frame would not occur until the final 5 minutes. Lancers' forward David Deputy would start the second period scoring after Hunter Ramos found Deputy in the slot to help tie up the game at one. Just over a minute later the Stampede would go back in the lead after Bryce Ingles beat Yegorov short side to put the 'Herd up 2-1. With just 6 seconds left in the middle frame Sioux Falls would go on the board once again. Forward John McNelis would deflect one past Yegorov. It would be 3-1 Stampede after two periods of play.

The third period would become a defensive struggle for both teams until Sioux Falls would be able to ice the game off an eventual empty net goal to propel the Stampede to a 4-1 win. The Lancers come back home Friday Night to take on the very same Stampede club. Puck drop will be at 7:05 PM CST. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports with the Voice of your Omaha Lancers Frank Zawrazky.
