FARGO, ND- The Omaha Lancers kicked off Thanksgiving weekend with the Fargo Force at Scheels Arena in Fargo, North Dakota. The Lancers would look to bounce back from a tough weekend the previous week against the Youngstown Phantoms.
The first period had Lancers' netminder Kam Hendrickson holding firm in net. The Lancers would find their footing later in the first with some solid chances. However, during a Fargo two-man advantage the Force would finally capitalize. Defenseman Finn McLaughlin shot through a screen to find the back of the net to give the Force a 1-0 lead going into the second period of play.
The Lancers would end up controlling much of the second period however, Fargo goalie Alan Lendak would be the story in the middle frame. Lendak would make a number of sprawling saves against numerous quality scoring chances for the Lancers to keep it at a 1-0 Fargo lead going into the third.
The Fargo Force would score early in the third period in a very fluky fashion. Eero Butella would wrist one off a Lancer in front of the net before ricocheting past Hendrickson to extend Fargo's lead at 2-0. Shortly thereafter, the Lancers would score. Forward Hunter Ramos would go on a breakaway before stick handling past Lendak to cut the deficit in half at 2-1.
The Lancers would continue to press for the game tying goal but Fargo capped off the game with an empty netter in a 3-1Â victory. The Lancers are back in action tomorrow night in Sioux Falls, South Dakota against the Sioux Falls Stampede. Puck drop is at 6:05 PM CST. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports with the Voice of your Omaha Lancers Frank Zawrazky.
