LANCERS FALL TO STAMPEDE

Lancers’ Fast Start Not Enough In 4-1 Loss

OMAHA, NE- The Omaha Lancers began their home-and-home series with the Sioux Falls Stampede Friday Night at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. The Lancers would look to bounce back from a tough week last week in Muskegon with two close losses to the Lumberjacks. The Lancers came out red hot in the early going generating numerous scoring chances. Eventually, the Lancers would cash in on the powerplay. Just 6 seconds into the ensuing Lancers' powerplay forward Hunter Ramos would blast a one-timer off a feed from defenseman Brian Lonergan to give Omaha the 1-0 advantage. Lancers' netminder Kam Hendrickson would back stop all of Sioux Falls' scoring chances in the first-helping Omaha maintain the 1-0 advantage going into the second period of play.

The second period would have Sioux Falls control much of the period with defenseman Anthony Bongo grabbing his first career USHL goal to knot up the game at one. Later in the second, forward Ethan Wyttenbach would score another for the Stampede-this time on the powerplay to put Sioux Falls up 2-1. Shortly thereafter, John McNelis would score to stretch the Stampede's lead at 3-1 going into the third.

The third period would turn into Friday Night Fights as mid-way through the period Lancers forward Jamison Sluys would have some words with Sioux Falls' Anthony Bongo before Lancers forward Hunter Ramos would move in and just like that a full on line brawl would breakout. Roughing minors would be handed out to both sides, however Veney was assed a major penalty to send him off for the game. Sioux Falls would go on the powerplay out of it and would score off the stick of forward Jake Merens. Sioux Falls would maintain the 4-1 lead to give them the 4-1 win. The Lancers will hit the ice tomorrow night against the very same Sioux Falls club on the road in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Puck drop is at 6:05 PM CST. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports with the Voice of your Omaha Lancers Frank Zawrazky.
