KEARNEY, NE- The Omaha Lancers opened their three game weekend Friday Night in Kearney, Nebraska against the Tri-City Storm. The Lancers would look to pull ahead of the Tri-City Storm in the Western Conference standings.
The first period would be a feeling out process however, the Lancers controlled most of the first with puck possession. Nevertheless, the score would remain scoreless after one period of play. The second period would continue to be a battle of quality goaltending. More specifically Lancers' netminder Kam Hendrickson would be the story of the middle frame-backstopping all 11 second period Tri-City shots. At the end of the second, forward Drew DellaSalla would get high-sticked by a Tri-City Storm forward that drew a 4 minute Lancers power-play heading into the third.
The third period would also be scoreless however, the Lancers would begin to find some momentum to close out regulation as they would create numerous scoring chances in the ladder half of the third. Overtime hockey would commence with the Omaha Lancers being the team to cap off the overtime win. Forward Jonah Aegerter would be wide open backdoor off a feed from forward Zach Wooten before Aegerter buried it to propel Omaha to a 1-0 overtime victory.
