OMAHA SHUT OUT BY GREEN BAY

Lancers 25 shots not enough

GREEN BAY, WI- The Omaha Lancers kicked off their Friday Night at the Resch Center in the first of two meetings with the Green Bay Gamblers this weekend. The Lancers were coming off a bye week while the Green Bay Gamblers came off a rough week in Lincoln, Nebraska against the Stars.

The first period would commence with the Lancers firing early-leading to numerous Grade A scoring chances throughout the opening frame. However, late in the first Green Bay would get a power-play opportunity after a Luke Baker penalty. The Lancers' penalty kill looked solid during the ensuing Green Bay power-play however, forward Reece Cordray would deflect one past Lancer netminder Mikhail Yegorov to give the Gamblers the 1-0 lead over Omaha despite the Lancers.

The second period would be much of the same with Omaha thoroughly controlling most of the frame. Green Bay goalie Gavin Moffatt would be the story through 40 minutes of play as he would stop all Lancer shots. Though the Lancers would have him beat on a couple of shots off the post, Moffatt would still stand tall. Neither team would find the back of the net in the second period helping Green Bay hold a 1-0 advantage going into the third period of play.

The third period would get a little chippy. Though the Lancers would continue to control a lot of the final frame, they just would not be able to beat Gavin Moffatt. Late in the third, Will Zellers would cashed in off a turnover to put the Gamblers up 2-0. Shortly thereafter, Zellers would cap it off with the empty netter to help propel Green Bay to a 3- 0 win. The Lancers will be back in action tomorrow night against the very same Gamblers club at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Puck drop will be at 6:05 PM CST. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports with the Voice of your Omaha Lancers Frank Zawrazky.
