LANCERS FALL IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Lancers Limited To 16 Shots On Goal In 5-2 Loss On The Road.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA. – For the first time in over 1,500 days, the Lancers traveled across the state of Iowa to take on the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders at ImOn Arena.

The Lancers were seeking revenge after being taken down by the 'Riders 5-1 back on October 7th at Liberty First Credit Union Arena.

Omaha struggled through the opening 20 minutes of play, trailing 2-0 and being out-shot 8-4 on the period.

Both of Cedar Rapids' goals came off the stick of Ryan O'Connell for his fifth and sixth goals of the season near the halfway mark of the period. The first being an unassisted, short-handed goal and the second being an even strength, odd-man rush with Colin Grable grabbing an assist.

The Lancers struck first in the second period as Nick Pierre went coast-to-coast and found Noah Jones on the rush for the one-timer goal to make it a 2-1 game. Cedar Rapids would get that back with a goal from Joel Kjellberg to regain the two-goal lead for the RoughRiders just over the halfway mark of the matchup.

Just under two minutes later, Ryan Kusler would redirect in his third goal of the season off a low shot through traffic from Trey Scott to make it a 3-2 game in favor of Cedar Rapids.

With the second period winding down, it appeared Omaha would get into the final frame trailing by one, but Jack Larrigan found the back of the net on a backdoor feed from Colin Grable to establish another two-goal lead for the RoughRiders. Sending the game into the third period with Cedar Rapids leading, 4-2.

The only goal of the third period came from 'Riders' Forward, Landon Resendes. Scoring his tenth of the year, bringing the score to what would be the final, a 5-2 win for Cedar Rapids.

Omaha returns home for a Sunday afternoon matchup tomorrow (1/28) to take on the Waterloo Black Hawks for their annual "Undie Sunday" matchup. Puck drop is set for 4:05PM CST., and can be streamed on FloSports and Mixlr.
