LANCERS BLANKED BY GADZHIEV

A Pair Of Gridin Goals Help Ascend Muskegon Past Omaha.

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers were back on home ice for the first time in 2024 Friday night (1/19) against the Muskegon Lumberjacks. The Lancers would look to bounce back from a frustrating loss to the Sioux Falls Stampede last weekend. Meanwhile, the Lumberjacks had come off a weekend split with the Fargo Force.

The first period would have both teams playing clean, physical hockey.

Both goalies would also make high-quality saves throughout.

Eventually, Muskegon's high-powered offense would find the back of the net after forward Coady Croal made a great play-stick handling past Omaha defenders before finding fellow linemate Matvei Gridin backdoor to put the puck past Lancer net-minder Mikhail Yegorov to give Muskegon the 1-0 advantage heading into the locker room.

The second period would start out sloppy for both sides with very few shots getting on net in the early going.

However, a scrum would ensue 12:15 into the middle frame; as that would seemingly fire up Omaha.

The Lancers would press throughout the rest of the second period however, Muskegon net-minder Shikhabudtin Gadzhiev would continue to stand on his head; with the Lancers left frustrated heading into the third period of play being down 1-0.

The third period would commence with Muskegon getting on the board once again. After a bad Lancer turnover, Muskegon's Matvei Gridin was able to score once again; stretching the Lumberjacks' lead at 2-0.

The Lancers would try and find offense however, Muskegon's Jack Galanek would seal it with an empty-net goal to help give Muskegon a 3-0 win over the Lancers.

The Lancers are back in action at home tomorrow night against the very same Muskegon club. Puck drop is at 6:05 PM CST. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports.
