LANCERS ACQUIRE DAVID POSMA FROM NIAGARA UNIVERSITY

After 52 Games At Niagara, Posma Returns To Juniors For The Remainder Of The 2023-24 Season.

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) have announced the acquisition of David Posma from Niagara University of the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA).

Posma, 20, of Pomona, New York comes into the Lancers' organization after nearly a season and a half of representing the Purple Eagles of Niagara University. Within his 52 games played, the blueliner picked up eight total points (1G-7A-8P), as well as 69 penalty minutes. Leading to Niagara earning a playoff birth within his freshman season, grabbing sixth place within the AHA.

One the current year, the Purple Eagles sit in seventh place within their conference, still on pace for another playoff appearance. 

Within Posma's prior junior hockey experience, he has skated in just one USHL game, making an appearance with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders during the 2021-22 season. Besides that, he played two full seasons with the New Jersey Jr. Titans of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). In the process of his 86-game NAHL career with the Titans, he racked up an impressive 51 points (13G-38A-51P), aiding the team's way to a Robertson Cup Championship in 2022. Taking down the Anchorage Wolverines, 3-0.

David is not the first of the Posma family to be with the Lancers, as his older brother, Mike Posma was acquired and played 36 games in Omaha during the 2020-21 season, after being traded from the Tri-City Storm. That season, Mike gathered 26 points (13G-13A-26P) as the Lancers finished in second place in the western conference standings with a record of 30-20-2-1. Mike also played stints with the Tri-City Storm and Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.

David Posma is set to make his debut with the Lancers Friday, December 15th, 2023 as the Lancers host the Waterloo Black Hawks. Puck drop is set for 7:05PM CST. at Liberty First Credit Union Arena.
