LANCERS BLANK THE STARS IN 2-0 WIN

Yegorov And The Lancers Shutdown Lincoln In A Two-Goal Victory.

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers would take on the Lincoln Stars at Liberty First Credit Union Arena Saturday Night (11/25) after the Lancers had come off a 2-1 loss to the Sioux City Musketeers Friday Night (11/24). Meanwhile the Lincoln Stars had seemingly found their offense after tallying 10 goals in two games this week including a 7-3 dismantling of the Sioux Falls Stampede Friday (11/24).

The first would begin with both teams playing sharp early on as Lancer netminder Mikhail Yegorov and Lincoln goalie Yan Shostak both stood tall at crucial moments in the period.

However, at 17:37 into the opening frame the Lancers would find the back of the net. Forward Ethan Fredericks would shoot the puck off the leg pad of Shostak that would bounce right to a open David Deputy as Deputy would score giving Omaha the 1-0 advantage heading into the second period of play.

The middle frame would commence as both teams would continue to play sharp throughout.

However, the officiating would become a question mark in the middle frame as Lancer defenseman Charlie Lieberman would be accessed an 'embellishment' penalty after taking a Lincoln stick to the face.

Shortly thereafter, Lancer defenseman Noah Jones would flatten a Lincoln forward to the frozen surface, but then Noah Jones would inexplicably be called for an interference penalty during that sequence. Undoubtedly the Lincoln skater possessed the puck, but would not seem to matter to the official.

The Lancers would overcome all of that non-sense thanks in part to goalie Mikhail Yegorov who would back-stop all Lincoln shots in the middle frame to help preserve a 1-0 Omaha lead going into the third period of play.

The third period would have Omaha and Lincoln continue to trade chances back and forth.

Eventually, the Lancers would score once more, as forward Justin Stupka would receive a cross-crease pass from Drew DellaSalla before Stupka would one-time one past Shostak to stretch Omaha's lead at 2-0.

From there Mikhail Yegorov would continue to shut the door on Lincoln; which would help Omaha hold on for a 2-0 victory.

Yegorov would get his first career USHL shutout after nearly having one last week against the very same Lincoln club.

The Lancers will be back in action Friday Night (12/1) against the U.S. National Development Team (U-18s) right back at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports.
