LANCERS FALL 2-1 IN HARD-FOUGHT ROAD LOSS

A Late Third Period Goal From Sam Court Wins It For Sioux City.

SIOUX CITY, IA. – The Lancers came into tonight (11/24) fresh off a home-ice victory over the Lincoln Stars last week (11/18), and hit the road today to try to make it a streak against the Sioux City Musketeers.

The Musketeers had momentum heading into tonight's game as they took down the top seed Fargo Force this past Wednesday (11/22) by a score of 3-2.

The first period consisted of no scoring, but eight shots a side. Omaha Netminder, Mikhail Yegorov and Sioux City Goaltender, Jakub Krbecek each faced a high-quality scoring chance, but shut the door each time.

The first penalty of the night came a few minutes into the second period, which ended with the first goal of the matchup.

After Ryan Kusler was issued a high-sticking penalty at the 4:06 mark of the period, the top power-play in the United States Hockey League got to work and netted the first goal of the game with just seven seconds left in the man-advantage.

Finn Loftus scored blocker side, top shelf on Yegorov to take the 1-0 lead that the Musketeers held through the end of the period. Taking the game into the third frame with a one-goal difference.

Mateo Picozzi and Easton Jacobs got in a scrap with 13:33 remaining in the second period, which sidelined them both until the opening minutes of the third.

The Lancers outplayed the opposition for the majority of the final period of play as Omaha out shot Sioux City 7-3, for a grand total of 22-21 in favor of the Musketeers.

Omaha was able to tie the game up at one goal apiece with a shot from the blue line from Mateo Picozzi getting redirected by Justin Stupka for his third of the season.

That led to 12 minutes of scoreless hockey before Sam Court forced a turnover and send a slap shot past the blocker of Yegorov for the game-winner with just 3:26 remaining in regulation. As the Musketeers skate away with the 2-1 victory.

The Lancers will be back in action tomorrow, November 25th on home ice against the Lincoln Stars. Puck drop is set for 6:05PM CST. and that game can be caught on FloSports and Mixlr.
