LANCERS FALL IN GAME TWO OF THE THREE-GAME WEEKEND

A Sam Harris Power-Play Goal Moves The Stampede Past The Lancers.

SIOUX FALLS, SD. – The Omaha Lancers played game two of the final three-game weekend of the 2022-2023 season in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to take on the Stampede.

So far on the weekend, the Lancers have taken on the Waterloo Black Hawks who are still trying to seal the first-round bye in the Clark Cup Playoffs. Now they have the Sioux Falls Stampede and Des Moines Buccaneers who are currently tied for the final playoff spot in the west. Making this weekend a tall order for the Lancers to fill.

After falling in a hard-fought battle with Waterloo last night (4/14) by a score of 4-2, the Lancers were on the lookout for their first win of the weekend.

The first period came and went with only 13 shots on goal between both squads, with the Lancers leading 7-6. Only one penalty, no goals and minimal stoppages made for a quick period, locked at zero.

The last five minutes of the second period captured all three goals scored in the matchup. Starting with Clint Levens scoring on a breakaway at the 15:01 mark of the period, unassisted, to take the 1-0 lead.

Just under two minutes later, Stampede leading point-getter, Sam Harris got in on the scoring by going top-shelf after picking up a rebound off a shot from Max Rud. Extending Sioux Falls' lead to 2-0 with just over three minutes to play in the second period.

The Lancers pulled back within one with just 50 seconds left in the period as Tanner Rowe scored from an odd angle, five-hole on Stampede goaltender, Caleb Heil. Sending the game into the third period with the Lancers trailing 2-1.

Alex Lunski picked up the primary assist on Rowe's goal giving him his first USHL point of his career. Chase Cheslock notched the secondary assist on the play.

Omaha controlled the third period by outshooting the opposition 11-8, but couldn't tie the game. Leading to Sioux Falls taking the 2-1 victory.

Lancers' goaltender, Oskar Siemionek played his first full game in the orange and black, stopping 23 of 25 shots. Good for a 0.920 save percentage.

The Lancers play tomorrow (4/16) in their final home game of the regular season against the Des Moines Buccaneers. Puck is set to drop at 4:05PM CST at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. The game can be caught on FloSports and Mixlr.
