LANCERS FALL TO THE MUSKETEERS

Lancers' Third Period Collapse Leads To Sioux City 4-1 Win.

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers took on the Sioux City Musketeers Friday night at Liberty First Credit Union Arena. The Lancers would look to bounce back after a rough go last week; losing to the Tri-City Storm on back-to-back nights in Kearney.

The Lancers came into Friday night's contest with the Musketeers holding a 4-0-1-0 record head-to-head with the Muskies. The Lancers had outscored Sioux City this season 16-11 during that same sequence.

Things looked promising to start for Omaha, with goaltender Kevin Pasche back in the lineup after representing his home country Switzerland in the World Juniors just a couple weeks ago.

Pasche was sharp early on, as Sioux City would sustain offensive pressure throughout the opening frame.

Unfortunately, the Musketeers would eventually find the back of the net as forward Ryan Conmy would wheel to the high slot before shooting through a plethora of traffic in front of Pasche to make it 1-0 Sioux City heading into the first intermission.

The second period was controlled by the Lancers. However, it would be Sioux City that would come out of the second frame with the lone goal.

Forward Max Strand found himself on a breakaway, as he would dance through Lancer defenseman Chris Romaine and would put it past Pasche to extend the Musketeers lead at 2-0 heading into the third period.

The Lancers came up flat in the third and final frame, as the Lancers' defensemen would try and press leading to numerous breakaway chances for the Musketeers.

The scoring continued from Sioux City as forward Ben Poitras would get on the board to stretch Sioux City's lead at 3-0.

The Musketeers were not done, as forward Tyler Hotson found the back of the net after fellow linemate Max Strand found him wide open back door to make it 4-0.

The Lancers would end the game on a somewhat good note, as forward Charlie Lurie wristed one by Sioux City netminder Axel Mangbo to break the shutout to end the game with a final score of 4-1 in favor of Sioux City.

The Lancers fall to 10-16-3-2, while the Musketeers improve to 14-11-2-3. The Lancers are back in action tomorrow night in Sioux Falls, to take on the Stampede. Puck drop is at 6:05PM CST. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports.
