Ralston, Neb. – The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce their regular season schedule for the 2013-2014 season. Celebrating their 28th season of operation and second campaign at the state-of-the-art Ralston Arena, the Lancers begin the 60-game campaign on Friday, September 27th at home against the Fargo Force. The team’s regular season finale then comes Saturday, April 5th on the road against the Sioux Falls Stampede.
In between, the Lancers will face their in-state rivals, the Tri-City Storm and Lincoln Stars, nine and eight times respectively including four showdowns at Ralston Arena against Lincoln on Saturday, November 2nd, Saturday, January 4th, Saturday, January 18th and Saturday, February 8th.
Of the team’s 30 home contests this season, 28 will be played on weekend dates with 12 Fridays, 13 Saturdays and three Sundays currently scheduled for the upcoming year. Omaha will play an additional two Wednesday evening games at Ralston Arena to round out the home portion of the 2013-14 season calendar.
Both the USHL’s conference alignment and playoff structure will remain the same as last season. The top four teams in each conference will qualify for the 2014 Clark Cup playoffs with each round decided in a best-of-five series. Within the Western Conference, Omaha will play nine games against Tri-City, eight games against Lincoln, six games each against Des Moines and Fargo, five games against Sioux City and four games each against Sioux Falls and Waterloo. Meanwhile, within the Eastern Conference, the Lancers will play four games against Chicago and two games each against Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Green Bay, Indiana, Muskegon, USNTDP and Youngstown. The Lancers will travel to every other USHL venue this season with the exception of the Covelli Center in Youngstown. Instead, Omaha will host the Phantoms for a pair of games on Friday, March 7th and Saturday, March 8th. Meanwhile, every USHL team will visit Ralston Arena this year with the exception of the Green Bay Gamblers who will host the Lancers for two games on Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st.
